This Thursday many Wisconsinites will converge on the 
State Capital for a rally and march to ask for a full 
investigation into the Downing Street memo.   It is 
hoped that hundreds will join us to help support 
John Conyers' call for an investigation into the 
Downing Street Memo.

At 5:30 we will march down State St. to the UW Library 
Mall in a show of support and solidarity with those 
marching in Washington DC and throughout the country. 
It is our earnest hope that our voices will combine 
into a noise big enough to be heard by our leaders, 
and our media.

	Wisconsinites have joined together and prevented Scott Walker’s radical plan to take away worker rights for three months, but he is not done. As we learned from their illegal attempt to jam through the budget repair bill in the dark of night, Walker and his allies are so hell-bent on taking away the rights of Wisconsin workers that they are prepared to use any and all means necessary to achieve their goals. Now, with their first cynical attempt at union-busting tied up in the courts, Walker’s allies now say they’re ready to add the rights-stripping measures to the state budget now flying through the legislature. Reintroducing plans to take bargaining rights away from workers into Scott Walker’s fatally-flawed state budget would consolidate Walker’s attacks on Wisconsin’s middle class into a single, horrific piece of legislation. Scott Walker’s budget: * Raises costs in health care and food assistance programs that are relied upon by 1.2 million workers, unemployed, retired and disabled people in Wisconsin * Breaks up and corporatizes the UW System, raising tuition and threatening closure of campuses * Guts the ability of Wisconsin Technical Colleges to prepare and retrain working people * Eliminates advanced placement and science and technology course in schools * Rolls back recycling and conservation programs throughout Wisconsin Despite all of this, Scott Walker’s fatally-flawed budget still has plenty of room for gifts for his dearest friends. Containing $200 million of tax breaks for corporations and the wealthy, as well as hundreds of millions of dollars in giveaways to his largest donors, Walker’s budget is a bonanza for the donors and corporate lobbyists who surely wrote it. The legislature must reject this horrifying budget and start over. The attacks on working families, seniors, students, the poor, and the environment and our rights must end. 	Over forty million people in this country have no health insurance. Many individuals in this country who have health insurance get denied necessary medical procedures due to 'pre-existing conditions'. Many more citizens are required to pay deductibles that cost up to tens of thousands of dollars for major operations . The United States has a health care program that overall ranks below some developing countries and far below most industrialized nations. The time has come for a single payer reform to the current health care structure. The current system penalizes poor and sick individuals. A single payer health care system is the only proven method of health coverage that includes everyone, is cost effective, and does not rely on the profit motives of insurance companies.

	At the end of September, The Madison School District will divulge the personal data of area high school students to The Armed Forces unless the students or their parents fill-out a military opt-out form. Join MAPC in an opt-out form leafletting demonstration that encourages East and West High School students to have their names removed from the military recruiting list. Time is running short, and we believe many parents and students have not received the military opt-out form. Please help by leafletting in front of these schools before it is too late!

	Join us for a statewide call to demonstrate against the negligent use of taxpayer funds for perpetual warfare. The time has come to demand from Wisconsin Legislators, the U.S. Congress, and our new President that we need money for domestic needs and humanitarian aid instead of endless warfare and occupation. From Afghanistan to Haiti; from Iraq to Palestine, the misconception that terrorism justifies the termination of civil liberties and the slaughter of innocent bystanders worldwide has been exposed for the fraud it truly is. We must take action now to demand an end to senseless destruction and corporate cronyism. We must begin to build our world with an image that favors freedom over totalitarianism: a world that favors distributing resources based on need instead of wealth. We plan to gather at Library Mall at the base of State Street opposite of the Capitol at 12:30 p.m. From there we will march to the Capitol steps for many noteworthy speakers, and then we will close in the Capitol Rotunda with a speech from Spencer Black who recently introduced a bill requiring the Governor to deny deployment of the WI National Guard for illegal purposes.
