Not One More Dollar." We will also be leafletting with the theme of encouraging young people to seek alternatives to military enlistment, and to resist the lures of military recruiters.

Gather at UW Library Mall at 12:30pm for musical satire and spoken word artists. Rally begins at 1pm with speakers. March steps off at 1:30pm. Bring signs and noise makers. We will gather at the Federal Court House at 10am for a short rally, then march around 10:30 am to the Capitol Square (during Farmer's Market), see a Street Theater presentation on Mission Accomplished, and make our voices heard. From there we will proceed to the Stagedoor Theater at 11:30 am (this is the small theater that is part of the Orpheum Theater on State St. (enter on the Johnson Street side) to hear short testimonials against the "War on Terror" and the crimes of empire and human rights violations that it has been used to support both here and abroad. Refreshments and music will be provided. With the Bush administration and Congress poised to commit yet another $160 billion to continue insane occupations in the Middle East, and to engage in a unilateral attack on Iran based on the same pattern of lies used to invade Iraq, and with Congress rubberstamping war funding, as well as the lies, torture, loss of habeas corpus, warrantless wiretapping, and general lawlessness under the current Administration, citizens in a democracy must come together to say NO! Not in our name! Show a public presence for peace at this critical time. Join us Saturday May 24th at 10 am at the Federal Courthouse. Bring signs and noisemakers.

March up State Street to show support for human rights and democracy in Burma.

Purpose:
1. To encourage Western powers to intervene in the human rights abuses in Burma.
2. To build awareness of human rights violations in Burma.
3. To send a message of solidarity and support to the people in Burma via the internet using images and sounds captured from the event.

Wear red and saffron (yellow) if possible. Bring signs. Members of the local Buddhist community will lead the group in a silent march down State Street in a single file procession in a manner very similar to the original protests that occurred in Burma in September. Upon reaching the Capitol Building, a speaker will say a few brief words about the situation in Burma and how we can continue to make a difference. Volunteers are needed to help support this event.

Juneteenth is a freedom festival on Madison's South Side, commemorating
the freeing of the slaves. MAPC will march in the Juneteenth Parade
again this year, and we invite you to join us. We seek to provide a
powerful alternative to the military presence that is usually at this event.
Gather at 9:30am prior to parade kickoff at 10am. We can provide signs and banners for peace! Other groups in the parade
will include children's dance and step groups, and other groups.
Marching in the parade is an informal and fun activity, especially for
kids. You get to walk through several South Madison streets (about 45
minutes) and end up at Penn Park at the Juneteenth extravaganza.
