Peace Contingent in St. Patrick's Day Parade
The long and bitter Winter finally nears its end. It's time for peace activists to pull our signs out of storage and hit the streets! What better way is there to celebrate Spring's approach than to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade behind a radical marching band? Join the Madison Area Peace Coalition "peace contingent" March 13th and show your spirit. Help us remind the public that unnecessary wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are still being waged in our name, wasting our resources and destroying millions of lives. |

Join the Surge Against the U.S. Occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan
Join the Surge Against the U.S. Occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan: Rally and March for Peace this Memorial Day Weekend! On occasion of 5th anniversary of the "Mission Accomplished" declaration, and honoring those who have died in needless wars on Memorial Day weekend, show a presence for peace and justice and against illegal U.S. preemptive wars for oil and empire. We will gather at the Federal Court House at 10am for a short rally, then march around 10:30 am to the Capitol Square (during Farmer's Market), see a Street Theater presentation on Mission Accomplished, and make our voices heard. From there we will proceed to the Stagedoor Theater at 11:30 am (this is the small theater that is part of the Orpheum Theater on State St. (enter on the Johnson Street side) to hear short testimonials against the "War on Terror" and the crimes of empire and human rights violations that it has been used to support both here and abroad. Refreshments and music will be provided. With the Bush administration and Congress poised to commit yet another $160 billion to continue insane occupations in the Middle East, and to engage in a unilateral attack on Iran based on the same pattern of lies used to invade Iraq, and with Congress rubberstamping war funding, as well as the lies, torture, loss of habeas corpus, warrantless wiretapping, and general lawlessness under the current Administration, citizens in a democracy must come together to say NO! Not in our name! Show a public presence for peace at this critical time. Join us Saturday May 24th at 10 am at the Federal Courthouse. Bring signs and noisemakers. |
