	ART! MUSIC! PUPPETS! MAPPING NUCLEAR ABOLITION! Think Outside the Bomb seeks to build community and working knowledge through our national tour, by offering crucial information on the state of the US Nuclear Industrial Complex, as well as a critical look at how we engage in resistance. As we travel the country this summer, we will interact with local activists and organizing groups. We will focus on the issue of nuclear abolition and stress its intersections with other global movements, including: movements for sustainable energy, indigenous sovereignty struggles, environmental movements, labor movements, and movements that oppose the state of global capitalism, among others. We will also speak of creating a positive and affirming culture of resistance.

	This observance is a family-oriented gathering with crafts, refreshments, music, and lanterns floated in the war at dusk. The date is chosen to remember the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. This event is an opportunity for people of all ages to remember those who have died by the use of nuclear weapons and to reflect on visions of a peaceful world. 	This year’s LaborFest features two of Madison’s three best bands (according to ratings by Madison Magazine), along with lots of attractions for kids and an extensive menu of good food, beer and soft drinks which will be served throughout the event. This year there will be a special *Welcome and Salute to the New Immigrant Movement* at 1:45 p.m. A collection will also be taken up for the families of immigrant workers jailed following an ICE/INS raid in Whitewater, August 8. Musical entertainment begins at 12:30 p.m. with the rousing rhythm and blues of LaborFest regulars, the Andy Linderman–Mel Ford Band. At 2:30 p.m. Madison’s Phat Phunktion takes the stage with some of the best funk and jazz sounds in the Midwest. Special events for kids will include balloons, face painting, and piñata and performances by Madison magician Scott the Great at 1 and 3 p.m. Menu items include the ever fabulous Italian sausages, corn on the cob, and Louisiana-style rice and beans, along with hot dogs, soda and beer. 	Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of slavery. The day marks to occasion when word of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last slaves who heard they were free. The parade starts at 11am at Fountain of Life church on Badger Road and goes through south side neighborhoods and ends up at Penn Park. MAPC will be participating in the parade. The festival goes on all day in Penn Park. Come out and celebrate Juneteenth.

	Join MadWomen for Peace to celebrate the true meaning of Mother's Day as we commemorate the original intention of Julia Ward Howe's 1872 Mother's Day Proclamation calling for women to gather together for a day of peace. "We, the women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country to allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs." Howe called for women to gather together without limits of national borders. This year we are moving from the focus of the national discretionary budget to a theme of Connecting the Dots. Code Pink, Mothers Acting Up and WAND are collaborating on an effort to Connect the Dots for Secretary Condoleezza Rice with a postcard campaign. Free postcards will be available which graphically compare the federal military budget with decrease in funding for childhood survival programs ( warning: the comparison is obscene.) Artwork depicting the current discretionary budget will be on display for folks to compare with budgets that they create on their own. The event is free and open to the public. There will be face painting and Dots candy for kids; a federal discretionary budget making activity for both adults and kids; and, a free Julia Ward Howe Mother's Day card and a sweet treat for all who fill out a postcard or budget.
