Sixty-First United Nations Day Celebration with SpeakerĀ Phyllis Bennis Phyllis Bennis hasbeen a writer, analyst and activist on Middle East and UN issues for many years. She worked as a journalist at the UN in the early 1990's, concerned with US domination of the UN. She later joined former UN Asst. Secretary General Denis Halliday (who resigned his position as Humanitarian Coordinator in Iraq to protest the impact of sanctions on the Iraqi people) in a US speaking tour. She appears frequently on PBS news programs. She is with the Institute for Policy Studies in Wash.D.C. The program includes a luncheon, with a vegetarian option.
