Mustafa Barghouthi is a medical doctor who served for 25 years as the President of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society, a non-profit NGO that provides health services to 1.3 million Palestinians. Dr. Barghouthi is currently Secretary General of the Palestinian National Initiative, a democratic opposition movement seeking an >accountable and transparent political system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and advocating mass non-violence and international solidarity as the best way to bring an end to the Israeli occupation. In 2006, Dr. Barghouthi was elected to the Palestinian Parliament as an independent. |
