Join us for a demonstration to oppose the Iraq war on Saturday, March 17th. We are calling for an end to the war and bringing all the troops home now. We will gather to mark the 4th anniversary of the start of the Iraq war and call for "Not One More Death. Not One More Dollar." We will also be leafletting with the theme of encouraging young people to seek alternatives to military enlistment, and to resist the lures of military recruiters.

Gather at UW Library Mall at 12:30pm for musical satire and spoken word artists. Rally begins at 1pm with speakers. March steps off at 1:30pm. Bring signs and noise makers. Come early if you can volunteer to leaflet or help with another task.

Join us to protest the illegal and immoral wars in Iraq and Afghanistan! The peace movement has made huge gains in the last year and the war in Iraq is becoming increasingly unpopular. So, come on down to the Peace Vigil at West Towne Mall to experience the excitement of hearing all the “Honks for Peace” and “Honks for Impeachment” from passing motorists showing their support for the Peace Movement. We can provide signs or bring your own. This is an inspiring and family friendly event! Everyone is welcome and bring a friend. The Peace Vigils have been a monthly event for over a year and continue to re-new our enthusiasm for the Anti-War Movement. Help us count at least 300-400 Honks for Peace and Impeachment in one hour!

After the Peace Vigil, we will be heading down town to the big Protest Rally against the War in Iraq!!!!!

At the last Peace Vigil, held at West Towne Mall, we had 11 people present and were able to cover all four corners of the intersection of <> Gammon Road and  Odana Road. We had a fantastic response from passing vehicles, some of whom honked long and loud. It was clear that many citizens were excited have the opportunity to express their opposition to the war. A passerby was very supportive and agreed to be interviewed for the radio report (see below). We also had vocal opposition and a Gulf War I vet talked about us being unpatriotic (this also went on the radio report). The final count was 444 Honks for Peace and Impeachment.

Listen to In Our Back Yard, , Monday, Wednesday or Thursday, on WORT 89.9 FM, to hear a radio report from the Peace Vigil.

The Peace Vigils at the Malls occur every third Saturday of the month and alternate between East Towne Mall and West Towne Mall. The next Peace Vigil will be held at West Towne Mall at the intersection of Gammon Road and Odana Road on Saturday April 21, from to .
